My name is Chai. I don't know how I ended up living outside, but I had two litters before I was a year old. We all stayed close and had some nice people feeding us, but they knew this was no life for a mama and her babies. It was getting colder and they weren't sure if we would all survive the winter. One person said something to the right person and got us the help we needed.

 

My first litter, all girls, got homes right away. My 4 boys were still small and needed a foster home. I was originally thought to be feral because I wouldn't let anyone near me. However, after I was caught, I didn't mind being handled; I even started purring! I'm definitely not feral so there's no chance of me going back outside. In fact, I'm perfectly happy being a lap cat now. 

 

After my surgery I had some issues with my kidneys, probably due to the anesthesia. After several weeks of fluids and special foods, I have made an astounding recovery. My blood levels are normal, although on the high side, so I will need good food and blood tests once or twice per year. But I am SO MUCH better!! I am very laid back and get along with other cats and even the dog that's here now.
