Hi, my name is Pepper. I am an 8 year old lab mix. I had a home and was surrendered to this cold, scary place and I really don't know why. When I got there they said I had heartworm. I don't know what that is, but I know I was sick. I was given some medicine and then one day I was told that I was healthy again and to pack my bags because I was going on a Freedom Ride! That sure sounded like fun ! I was going to Wisconsin with my buddy Hank. Boy, did we have a wild trip! We drove for 2 days and were able to meet lots of nice folks and we had a sleepover in Indianapolis. Boy was I tired! We had a long second day of travels and I saw snow for the first time! Wow, did it look like fun to bite at! I am a sweet, gentle, boy. I am housebroken. I don't bark, I don't chew things and I love to cuddle. I will follow you around as I love to be close to you. I walk well on a leash and come back if you whistle for me. I love to eat and do a Happy Dance for Breakfast! My foster mom says I am a very gentle soul. My ideal home would be in a place where I can have a soft bed and lots of toys. I am doing much better with carpeted steps.. see my foster mom found out that I have an old hip injury. I walk fine, but do favor my back right leg a bit. I do get a little timid of hardwood floors too, but if you have an area rug, I am fine walking from the floor to the rug. I also have this awesome therapeutic bed which I love... so I will need a home that has room for my bed. I am great with dogs, cats and kids. I would do best either as an only dog or if the resident dog doesn't play rough as I can lose my balance. I do like those chewing sticks a lot. If you would like to meet me, please click on Adopt and fill out a non-binding application. I am ready to go to my new home! UPDATE: I am doing so much better than when I first arrived. I have gained some much needed weight and am eating some really good dog food. I do have some medications that I need to take - one for iron, one for arthritis and one for pain. My foster mom says they are inexpensive, but really make a difference for me, so I would need to stay on them for life. I have become a very social boy that loves to be outside. I will wander around and although I don't like to come back inside, I will trot by you when you whistle. I do know my name, so Pepper suits me. If you would like to meet me, please click on Adopt and fill out a non-binding application. I am ready to go to my new home!
