SUCCESS! Maya had ACL surgery on both legs at Country Care Animal Hospital in Green Bay. She is now ready to be adopted! The applicant who wanted her one year ago is going to adopt her!

MAY UPDATE:  Maya has some pain in her back end / rear left leg.  We had two vets evaluate her with conflicting diagnosis.  We will have a 3rd evaluation done to determine the next step of treatment for Maya. 

LATER MAY UPDATE: Maya has two cruciate tears requiring surgery on at least one. She also has two spinal discs that are close together. All of these things are due to her conformation. PFM will be geting the best care possible for her.

JUNE UPDATE:  Maya has torn ligaments in both of her knees.  Her right knee is almost 100% torn and the left is 75% torn.  She can only walk because she has built up scar tissue and bone remodeling to try and help her stay on her feet.  SO if Maya, jumps, runs, or twists, her 75# frame will not be able to hold her and she could lose the ability to use one leg.  Since the other leg is bad, she could lose use of her hind legs and have to be put down.  Maya needs surgery.  We have surgery scheduled for July 21, 2015 for the right knee.  The cost is $2100 for each knee.  Once the surgery is done, she will have full use of the knee again.  Maya is only 5 years - she deserves a chance to live out her life!  She was bailed on by her family once - we will not do it again!

Maya : The most beautiful, angelic, ambrosial, enticing, gorgeous, enamoring, pretty, amazing, lovely, lovable, and wonderful girl anyone could ever met.

If this is what my name means, why was I given up?  I am a sweetheart and a smart gal that had a home and even a microchip so I wouldn't get lost.   I can sit, shake, lie down for belly rubs. Someone took the time to teach me tricks - why not keep me?  My owner surrendered me because I escaped.  My foster mom said I am not a runner, but if not in a fence, I will curiously wander off.  Who could blame a gal for that?  I don't have any interest in jumping a fence or climbing walls.  I am a nice calm girl who wants to live on a couch, but I do like to run and play. I am potty trained, I don't chew, I love treats and take them nicely.   I need a home with a large yard or a family that will give me regular exercise so I am tired.   Will you be that family that will train me beyond tricks, but to stay in the yard?  I wont give up on you - so please don't give up on me.
