UPDATE ON BEAR - Bear needs a new home without young children. He prefers a quiet home so he can enjoy his senior life! He is a great companion to greet you at the door, go for short walks or just hang out watching TV. He is up to date on vacinnations, house trained, crate trained (but doesnt need it), he knows commands and is an easy going guy. He just prefers to not be with young children. Respectful kids over the age of 12 yrs are ok as long as they are not overly rambunctious and know how to be kind to a dog. This is a courtesy post. Bear is not with Purr-fect Match Animal Rescue, however, if you feel you are a match for Bear, please contact Lori Free at lorifree19@gmail.com for more information. Thank you for choosing to adopt!
UPDATE ON BEAR: Bear has arrived in Wisconsin April 2 and he is doing great! He has enjoyed being out of the concrete walls and on a soft floor and SOFA! He loves the couch. So, plan on this big boy being a couch potato and buddy for you! He has also jumped on the bed, so he seems comfortable with that! Bear is a bit timid yet of loud noises, but once he trusts you, he is a great companion. He is living with kids ages 3 - 18 and doing well. He doesn't move too quickly as to knock over small children, but he can run if he wants too! He does take treats a bit quick yet from your hand - he doesn't bite, but snaps.. his foster is working on taking nicely. He does know sit, stay, here/come. He is completely housetrained. We have not heard him bark yet. He seems fine with other dogs, but he would love to be an only dog for all the attention. He rides pretty good in the car - he may need a boost to get in - but prefers to look out the window or stick his head out for some fresh air. He loves canned food and eats a scoop daily. He walks very well on the leash but will cling or circle the walker if there is a loud noise (like a truck driving past, etc.). We haven't had any thunderstorms yet, so not sure how he will be in storms. He prefers to do his "business" during walks. He doesn't seem to "go" when tied outside on a long lead. He was used to a fenced yard with the underground/electric collar - so maybe a little more freedom in a fenced yard would help since he was used to that before. He does gravitate to men - he likes women, but if there is a man around, he will go to them first. His home in KY was with a man. He seems to be fine with cats and just wants a home where he can be loved. If that is with you, please fill out a non-binding application at http://purrfectmatch.rescuegroups.org/forms/ Since we are foster based, the best way to meet Bear is to fill out an application.
Hello, My name is Bear. I am in a high kill shelter in KY. I don't know why I am here or what I did wrong. I had a home with my brother Max and now we are here. I am very sad. I was told that April 1st is my last day. The judge of the county said that my time is up. I am worried whenever they take me out of my kennel if I am going to be walked to "the room".
Well, I am not fooling when I heard that I have been rescued! The nice woman here said that I am going to Wisconsin very soon! I know it will be great there! I am coming with my buddy Max, but we don't have to be adopted together. Max is more playful than I am. I would like a family with a man who will play and take me places. I am good with older kids. I don't know if I like cats yet or not. I am ok with other dogs, but would really like to have a family of my own.
I am happy to have a second chance at life!
Please come meet me - I promise I wont disappoint you!
