I am Sammy, a male long haired Chihuahua. I am 8 years old and was an owner surrender with my housemate Joey. I was not vetted much, but surprisingly in good health. I was just recently neutered and received a dental – so I am “good to go” my foster mom says! Because I was neutered late in my life, I did "mark" when I first came into foster. My foster mom uses elly bands and since our surgery I am marking less and less. I am kennel trained and love to go in my kennel to sleep and be in my safe place. I would do best in a home with someone around most of the time. I like my humans and feel safe with them. I don't mind other dogs that are nice to me.
I am shy at first but I do like cats and dogs that are my size. I am good with respectful kids of all ages. I listen pretty good, but I am used to a fenced yard. I hadn’t been walked much, but my foster mom is working on that and I can now walk very well on a leash! Right now, loud noises or busy roads do scare me, but if you are patient with me, I know I can be your best friend!
I was taken to the vet in late June because I was unable to pee or poop. After have lots of probes and scopes, it was determined that I have pancreatitis. I am on a special diet of food and I have a follow up appointment on July 8. Since I left the vet, I am doing good - eating, playing, pooping, etc.
