Hello! I am Lucy a sweet, lab retriever mix. I am about 1 year old and was found as a stray in SC with my brother Clark. He was adopted and now I am searching for my forever home!
I am a shy gal at first and warm up slowly. I am crate trained, but it isn't my favorite place to be. I am good with other dogs and am fine with cats. My ideal home would be with another animal - I will follow and learn from another dog and someone to play with. Dogs bigger than me are fine, but I do get a little scared at first. I am a submissive type so I just want to be friends with everyone. I haven't been around young kids much and since I am a little skiddish, older kids would probably be better for me. I know how to sit, but would need help with other training and commands. I would LOVE to go to school! I am smart and I listen very good too. My foster mom can whistle or call my name and I come running back. I would like a house with a big yard so I can run and play. My foster mom says it was obvious I was a stray because I do counter-surf and dumpster dive (in the garbage can if left out). I do not beg for food at the table and any treats I take with a very soft mouth. I love to snuggle on the couch! I like my pet bed too and will sleep on it next you at night. First I jump in bed with you, we snuggle a bit and then I will go on the floor. I am good out of the cage at night, but I am crated when my foster mom goes to work. I am afraid of loud noises - I am ok during a thunderstorm and some fireworks, but a sudden bang sends me hiding. I would do best in a home without free range chickens as I will chase and retrieve them. I have not killed a chicken, but I did carry it back to show my foster mom. I did release it when instructed. I don't feel I would be a good hunting dog however, because I am afraid of the gun shot. I would do best in a dog experienced home - one that is a strong pack leader who can help me learn and grow. I need someone to give me directions and a resident dog that I can follow and feel safe with. I will need some time to adjust to a new home and will need someone with patience while I learn how to be the best dog anyone would want. If you can promise to give me patience - I can promise to love you forever!
